Buraka Som Sistema’s rose as as international agents of the Angolan dance music style known as kuduro, they will be headlining at Webster Hall’s Grand Ballrooom along with French-elecro man Surkin.
Portuguese group Buraka Som Sistema was formed in 2006 due to the growing infatuations for kuduro. The wild beats of Angolan Kuduro music has been big in Lisbon clubs since the late 90s and Buraka Som Sistema – AKA Lil’ John, Riot and Conductor – have fused it with 21st century electronics to create a whole new soundInitiating the project as a regular club night.
In November of 2008 the European release of their eagerly awaited debut full-length, Black Diamond, garnered generally positive reviews from critics.
Currently, Buraka Som Sistema is promoting their latest EP “From Buraka To The World”
