Jazid will be featuring two great young electro-Latin bands: Navegante from New York City and Miami’s own Penelope Sky. Navegante’s sound goes from Latin to rock and hip hop music, while the Penelope Sky girls veer towards pop, dance, rock, electronic rhythms. Both will surely make you dance all night.
Una mezcla caliente, Navegante is fronted by vocalist/composer, guitarist and cuatrista; Jean Shepherd. The band’s Latin-inspired funk & roll fuses the music of Puerto Rico, the street music of Brooklyn, and a funky breakbeat here and there. Raised in Miami of Puerto Rican and Peruvian descent, Sheperd mastered the cuatro, the national instrument of Puerto Rico and now he brings his sazon in his adopted home of New York. Even Carlos Santana has something to say about Navegante, calling the group “the music of the future.”
